STEM Camper!

Our cause is education, and during these unprecedented times, our mission to engage, educate, and employ New Mexico students in STEM has never been more important. As the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the digital divide in New Mexico and deepened the opportunity gap for marginalized children, support from generous federal employees giving through the CFC has enabled our organization to meet the emerging needs of our community.

Together, we have been able to provide virtual education in science, technology, engineering, and math to hundreds of children throughout our state. Just this summer, we delivered over 1,400 summer learning kits free of charge to students in Isleta Pueblo, Isleta Elementary, and Belen Public School. These kits contained foldscopes (portable microscopes), magnifying glasses, pipettes, Petri dishes, seeds, and a standards-aligned curriculum so students could continue to make discoveries in STEM without the need to access the internet. In Albuquerque, we’ve also been able to offer socially distanced and safe in-person STEM camps for K-12 students (see photo), keeping young minds active and helping to stop the summer slide. Thank you, federal employees, for making it all possible!
