“Since 1998, Clothes That Work’s mission is to clothe, educate and empower jobseekers to achieve employment success in Dayton, Ohio. To date we’ve served more than 30,000 women, men and independent teens.
Clients come to us through referral partners and receive a complete outfit free of charge to help them make a positive first impression during their job interview. If they’re hired, they can come back and receive a week’s worth of clothing so they don’t have to use their first paycheck to buy clothes for their new job.
In 2017 we started an Education Program focused on the professional soft skills needed to maintain a job, such as effective communication techniques and conflict resolution skills. Last year we more than tripled the program and presented to more than 1,700 individuals through the Workforce Education Initiative.
We also have a Boutique open to the general public and staffed 100% by our volunteers. It is a place for us to sell the high-end designer donations we receive that might not be appropriate for our clients.
Dayton unemployment numbers jumped from 18,000 unemployed to more than 62,000 unemployed in just one month (because of COVID-19). Our services are needed now more than ever for the economic recovery of the Dayton region.
Thank you for your consideration of CTW. You can visit our website for more info at clothesthatwork.org.”
