When library champions come together, we are able to do more than any of us can do alone. When 409 of us donated last spring, we raised $26,000 in just a few days, which enabled the Library to quickly increase access to digital books when many of us were stuck at home – benefiting thousands of people across our community.
Our success comes because each of us pitches in what we can. Our individual gifts come in all sizes, and when we join together with hundreds of our neighbors and friends who also give, it adds up fast. We do this throughout the year, raising important funds for books, furniture, equipment and programs.
Your support is critical because our community is depending on the Library to help us recover from the COVID crisis. Libraries are often called second responders because they quickly rally in times of crisis to help their communities recover and rebuild.
When our community was hit with COVID, our Library jumped right in to help, creating online storytimes and activities for families to do together at home. We reached out to support our teachers and school librarians, increased our digital collection, made laptops and MiFi available for check-out, and assisted the Municipality’s Emergency Operations Center. These are just a few ways the Library’s fabulous staff serve you and our community during times of need.
But our Library isn’t just there for us in times of crisis. Every day our Library helps prepare our kids for success in school, helps us learn and grow, and delivers resources to people who might not otherwise have access.
The heart of a strong city is a strong library, and ours is strong because we have a community of friends and supporters like you who keep the Library going, through bad times and good. By contributing to this campaign, you can help the Library keep our community educated, entertained and connected.
